Graffiti is the application of media by humans on publicly viewable surfaces. (2006). Oxford University Press.). When done without the property owner's consent it is vandalism. Some countries require the owner's consent before public organisations can prosecute such vandalism. Graffiti has existed at least since the days of ancient civilizations such as classical Greece and the Roman Empire.
